What is MCP and why are people suddenly talking about it?

🚀 What is MCP and why are people suddenly talking about it? If you’re building with AI agents - or thinking about it - there’s a new development in the way agents can communicate with each other: MCP = Model Context Protocol A standard for sharing identity, memory and intent across models and tools. Currently, most AI assistants forget who you are as soon as you close the app. They don't share memory across tools. They don't understand long-term goals. That's a big limitation. 🎒 MCP acts like a shared backpack your AI can carry across apps, sessions and agents - filled with: - Who you are (identity) - What you want (goals, tasks) - What you’ve done (history) - What matters to you (preferences, memory) 🔧 How it works: - It's open source (📎 Link to the MCP spec is in the comments) - It was introduced by Anthropic and has been adopted by Spring Boot already, with more vendors likely follow - It lets developers define a user context schema and pass it between agents - Agents can read from and write to the context, enriching each other 💡 Use cases: - Start a task with #Claude, finish with #ChatGPT - both know your context - Build an agent that books flights and knows your travel preferences - Let AI apps build on each other’s work - without API spaghetti 🔄 Why this matters: MCP is like HTML for AI context — it won’t change how models think, but it will change how they connect, collaborate and remember. 💥 It’s early - but if you’re building in the AI space, this could be foundational. If you're exploring how to integrate AI into your business, feel free to reach out. #MCP #AIPhase #Anthropic #AI #ModelContextProtocol #AIAgents #ContextAwareAI #OpenAI
